Dang Tran Con School - Getting to know you

General information

Class: 7/10

School: Dang Tran Con

City: Hochiminh

Country: Vietnam

Age: 12

An introduction to Class: 7/10

Hello! Glad to get to know all of you.

We’re students of class 7/10, Dang Tran Con Secondary School. Our class has 40 students and all of us are at the age of 12. Our classes start at 1 o’clock in the afternoon and finish at a quarter past five. At school, we study 12 subjects and English is one of them.

After school, there are lots of options we can choose to relax. Our teachers are very good at holding activities for us to entertain: traditional games, sports, clubs (art, English…). All of them are wise and healthy ways to regain energy for our bodies and our brains as well, aren’t they?

Besides that, I’m sure that you’ll agree with us eating and chatting with friends are the most common activities of students. It’s absolutely true for students in Vietnam, especially for students in HCM City.

And a lot of things that we want to share will come in following parts.

We’re glad to get to know you!

It’s very nice to be friends with all of you.

We’d like to share our life and culture to you and we are very happy to know about you, your school day and your country.

Hochiminh City – Our home

Hochiminh where we live is one of the most crowded and busiest cities of Vietnam. We live in small houses along crowed and narrow streets. There is almost no space between the two next-door houses. It creates a close and nice relationship among neighbors. The main means of transport in the city are motorbikes and bicycles. We often walk or ride bikes to school.

Our local amenity is a mix of the modern style of a fast developing city and the traditional style of a city which was born over hundreds of years. You can easily find out high modern buildings next to ancient constructions, latest fashion shops next to calligraphy galleries, graceful ladies in ‘Ao dai’ walking beside fashionable women.

Our food – Our style

We - teens have our own favorite food and drink. We love eating dishes which are mixed of many different tastes and ingredients. Trying special food of our country is one of our hobbies.

‘Banh trang tron’ is famous among students in Hochiminh City for its unique taste. Tiny soft pieces of girdle cakes are mixed with herbal leaves, some drops of kumquat juice, a little shrimp salt, a little sugar… We like eating this kind of snack not only because it is delicious but it is also cheap and easy to make.

After school, food stalls with ‘Goi Cuon’ on their signs are found by teenagers. A boiled shrimp, some thin and small slices of boiled pork, some noodles, some herbal leaves are carefully put and rolled by a very thin and soft girdle cake. The special taste of this food comes from the sauce served with ‘Goi Cuon’. This sauce decides the quality of the dish.

We are looking forward to getting to know you.

Wish you have wonderful school days!
